I remember looking at the women who inspire me last year, thinking: “What do they have that I lack?”
One of the things that came to mind was CONFIDENCE.
Yes, I know I might look like a confident person: I know what I want; often I voice my opinions; and most times I’m not bothered with what people think of me.
BUT there are still times when I feel like I am compromising a lot, that I am not speaking up because of fear, or rather, the lack of confidence.
I believe that lack of confidence for me stems from the unknowing – thinking: “I don’t know much about this topic…”
And how does one overcome this? You Google it! You do a little research to find out more about the topic and then once you know more, you’ll be confident to talk about it.
So, this year will also be a year of learning.
In the past I’ve been uncomfortable with learning new things because it would get me out of my comfort zone – it would make me feel that I am not control. I don’t like not being in control.
BUT, I’ve decided that I will be okay that there are things that are not within my control, so I will let it be.
I enjoyed the post of Luchae of the blog My Spreadsheet Brain, where she spoke of putting her Word-of-the-Year into action. Her word of the year is “grateful” and she had small monthly actions to showcase gratefulness.
One of her tasks is to give a small gift to someone every month – as a blessing. Read her post here
Personally, I have not decided how I will implement my word CONFIDENCE into my life yet, because I just thought of this word yesterday. Before yesterday I thought my word of the year would be: Just Do It.
What I do know is that I want to take on my dreams (and the goals I set) with confidence, and I want to embody confidence. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks for reading!
